Valentine’s Day is usually a day where we exchange decadent candies and enjoy elaborate desserts with our sweetheart. But we don’t have to indulge in these rather unhealthy treats; there are quite a few healthy alternatives that are just as tasteful and romantic. In addition, you show how much you care about that special person in your life by being concerned about their health. Here are healthy Valentine’s Day treats you can whip up in no time at all. They are sure to impress and of course taste and look fabulous.
If you are in the mood for chocolate cake, pick up your favorite, boxed devils food cake mix at the store. Prepare the batter according to the box directions, but replace the oil with an equal amount of applesauce to reduce the amount of fat in the Melted Love Cake. Pour the batter into a heart shaped baking pan and bake according to directions. Allow to cake to cool completely, and then decorate it with a light dusting of powdered sugar. Using powdered sugar, which by the way looks stunning on the dark cake, instead of adding frosting saves quite a few calories. You can decorate the Melted Love Cake even further by draping a few berries on top.
